Michael Saylor: Bitcoin as Property

Michael Saylor is a great resource to learn about Bitcoin from the investment perspective. In this video, he makes a compelling case for why you would choose to invest in Bitcoin instead of real estate.

Michael Saylor making the investment case for Bitcoin as opposed to equities. This video deserves to be watched multiple times because it is full of so much good information.

Blockchain vs. Bullshit: How to Tell The Difference

Andreas Antonopoulos is also a great source for learning about Bitcoin. His talks focus more on the technical details of how Bitcoin works. It’s easy for newcomers to get sucked down the “blockchain not Bitcoin” rabbit hole. This video does a fantastic job of explaining the difference.

Andreas Antonopoulos: Bitcoin for Beginners

A great speech from Andreas. A must watch for those seeking to understand the basics of how Bitcoin works.

Books

The Bitcoin Standard: The Decentralized Alternative to Central Banking

Book cover

I would recommend this as the first book for learning about Bitcoin. It details the history of money, and why Bitcoin is the next technological leap for money and savings technology.

Broken Money

Book cover

This book is like ‘The Bitcoin Standard’ on steroids. I would recommend it to someone seeking to understand how the financial system and money work as a whole. It serves as a great bridge for those interested in finance in general but are still skeptical about Bitcoin. At 538 pages, it is not a short read, but it is worth it.

Gradually, Then Suddenly

Book cover

This is a great supplemental reading on the topic of Bitcoin. Parker Lewis is a very deep thinker, and this book is really just a collection of his articles, which can be found for free on the internet. However, the book does a great job of tying all the articles together. Part 1 of the book goes into Bitcoin fundamentals and ends with an epic chapter titled ‘Bitcoin is the Great Definancialization,’ which is the strongest takeaway from the book, in my opinion. That article can be found for free on the internet, linked below in the articles section.

Layered Money: From Gold and Dollars to Bitcoin and Central Bank Digital Currencies

Book cover

This book is a good supplement to the two books listed above. The book goes into more detail about how the monetary system works as a whole. The later part of the book provides reasons for why something like Bitcoin is a viable alternative to the current monetary system.

Check Your Financial Privilege

Book cover

This book examines Bitcoin from the perspective of Human rights. Bitcoin is a life saving tool for many people around the world who live under financial repression. This book goes into detail about how that is playing out in several parts of the world.

Articles

Bitcoin First Revisited

Book cover

Very good read from Fidelity, which manages over $4.5 Trillion in assets. I would recommend it as a first read for anyone generally curious but skeptical about Bitcoin. Does a very good job of differentiating Bitcoin from other crypto assets. Since Fidelity likely already manages part of their retirement savings, they would feel reassured knowing that it has received the stamp of approval from an asset manager as significant as Fidelity.

Bitcoin is the Great Definancialization

My favorite chapter from Parker Lewis’ book, Gradually, Then Suddenly, which is available for free online.
